UJJAIN:  Karnataka and Punjab have shown maximum interest in promoting Gurukul way of life for students, said RSS leaders at the end of the three-day Gurukul Sammelan organised by the Madhya Pradesh government and Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM), a Sangh affiliate.

Apart from Madhya Pradesh which has already agreed to treat gurukuls as mainstream schools, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Assam and Maharashtra are the other states where officials and stakeholders are interested in it.

The states have been suggested to register gurukuls and make provisions to evaluate them after consulting with the Centre and making an expert panel. BSM also suggested thatMaharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan in Ujjain be the nodal agency for all gurukul-related activities.

Karnataka and Punjab are both Congress ruled states but Kanitkar said the organisation’s efforts to promote the gurukul way of life has found maximum takers in the two states.
