The event, held from 10 to 12 July 2024, brings together over 50 participants representing the boards of leading organizations across India to enhance their corporate governance acumen.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe inaugural session was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Chairman of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) and the Director General &amp; CEO of IICA; Ms. Neera Saggi, Independent Director on the boards of multiple companies including Tata Steel and GE Power; Mr. Shailesh Haribhakti, Board Chairman, Audit Committee Chair, and Independent Director in several leading organizations\\r\\nIn his keynote address, Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey highlighted the essential role of corporate governance in today's economy and society. He emphasized the importance of audit committees and independent auditors in maintaining corporate integrity and sustainability, referencing historical cases like Kreuger &amp; Toll and McKesson &amp; Robbins to illustrate the evolution of regulatory frameworks.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\\"Sound corporate governance is the bedrock of a robust corporate sector,\\\" he stated, stressing its crucial contribution to sustainable growth. Dr. Pandey outlined five key defenses in corporate governance: management, audit committees and independent directors, financial reporting frameworks and auditors, investors\\\/shareholders and lenders, and independent regulators like NFRA. He urged audit committees to engage deeply with key audit standards and review NFRA disciplinary orders regularly. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of Key Audit Matters (KAM) and Emphasis of Matters (EOMs), advocating for active engagement with auditors to ensure transparent reporting.\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nDr. Pandey concluded by underscoring the primary responsibility of corporate boards to protect shareholders\\u2019 interests and ensure good governance. He recommended directors familiarize themselves with NFRA's review reports and disciplinary orders. Quoting Healy and Palepu from Harvard Business School, he suggested evolving audit committees into \\\"transparency committees\\\" to give investors a clearer understanding of a company's economic reality.\\r\\n\\r\\nDuring the inaugural session, Dr. Pandey also highlighted a new collaborative initiative between IICA and NFRA to launch specialized training modules aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of accounting professionals, auditors, and independent directors. These courses, which will count towards the continuing professional learning requirements for chartered accountants, are designed to prepare auditors and independent directors to manage large companies with diverse shareholder bases and meet global standards. The training modules will include nine-month courses for auditors and accountants, with online classes held two to three days a week, and shorter courses for independent directors lasting three to six months. Developed with input from top industry experts, these courses aim to provide practical and valuable learning experiences.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe Directors' Certification Master Class continues over the next two days, featuring sessions led by distinguished speakers and industry experts. Mountains, forests, rivers and seashores appeal to something deep within us. As I walked along the seashore today, I felt a communion with the surroundings \\u2013 the gentle wind, the roar of the waves, and the immense expanse of water. It was a meditative experience.\\r\\n\\r\\nIt brought to me a profound inner peace that I had also felt when I had a darshan of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannathji yesterday. Extreme weather events have become more frequent around the globe in recent years. The situation is projected to be far worse in the decades to come.\\r\\n\\r\\nMore than seventy percent of the surface of the earth is made up of oceans, and global warming is leading to a rise in global sea levels, threatening to submerge coastal areas. The oceans and the rich variety of flora and fauna found there have suffered heavily due to different kinds of pollution.\\r\\n\\r\\nFortunately, people living in nature\\u2019s lap have sustained traditions that can show us the way. Inhabitants of coastal areas, for example, know the language of the winds and waves of the sea. Following our ancestors, they worship the sea as God.\\r\\n\\r\\nThere are two ways, I believe, to meet the challenge of protection and conservation of the environment; broader steps that can come from governments and international organisations, and smaller, local steps that we can take as citizens. The two are, of course, complementary. Let us pledge to do what we can do \\u2013 individually, locally \\u2013 for the sake of a better tomorrow. Students have time till July 9 to challenge the answer key. The NTA has also said that if any complaint about the exam is found to be correct, then the exam will be conducted again for CUET-UG candidates from July 15 to 19.\\r\\n\\r\\nAfter publishing the answer key, now the result of the exam is likely to be announced soon. Sources in the National Testing Agency say that the result can be declared in the next one week.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe time for students to challenge the answer key released by the NTA has been fixed till July 9. Any candidate can challenge the answer by paying the prescribed fee. The NTA has informed that it will resolve the complaints related to the exam by 6 pm on July 9. This time the complaints made by the candidates will be verified by a panel of subject experts concerned.\\r\\n\\r\\nIt has been said that the results will be declared only on the basis of the revised final answer key. NTA is also resolving complaints regarding CUET-UG exam received till June 30. If the complaints are found to be correct, NTA will conduct the exam again for these candidates between July 15 and July 19 at the scheduled exam centers. This time 261 universities are involved in it. As a measure towards stringent examination security, NBEMS appointed more than 250 appraisers to supervise the conduct of examination. The OTR Module will be available to students across the year. OTR is a unique 14-digit number issued based on the Aadhaar\\\/Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID).
