GURUGRAM : School’s out and the sun’s out—yes, summer is here. For many children, summertime is when books collect dust and the “break” from learning begins. While fun and refreshing, this break has downsides: it can lead to the dreaded “summer brain drain”—a time when learning and engagement decide to hibernate. Even during the summer months, students can continue to learn, accomplish their educational goals, and expand their creativity. Rishikesh is an ideal weekend getaway from Delhi; the place leaves you completely rejuvenated, and helps you conquer your fears and fulfill all your adventure fantasies. The emerald green river Ganges accompanied by lofty mountains, green hills and shimmering white sand takes its usual walk. The pebbled path, along the river adds to its beauty.

Bungee Jumping! Cliff Jumping! Rock Climbing! Fox Flying! Rappelling! and what not? Beach, Bonfire and Buddies – all added zeal to the time well spent. Summer is the perfect time for children to discover that education isn’t limited to the classroom. There was plenty to enjoy and a plethora of activities to do, which refreshed the young minds after the two months ‘long school learning days.

Keeping in view this fact, Rotary Public School organized three days & three nights’ educational excursion cum camp this month for about 100 students of Classes X & XII at Rishikesh, Uttaranchal.

The students of RPS experienced a myriad of adventure activities – trekking, hiking, camping, river crossing, rappelling, rock climbing and white water rafting wherein students learnt how to build a raft, inflate, deflate and re-flip it, which in a way taught them team building skills through teamwork in conquering difficulties. They enjoyed few recreational activities organized especially for them like Beach volley ball, chill at stream, group games, skit performances etc. In an effort to bring forth the Rotary values, the students went to a nearby village where they took initiatives to inform about the importance of health & hygiene.
