\"\"New Delhi : \u00a0<\/strong>The CBSE has issued a detail guidelines for Safe and Effective use of Internet and Digital Technologies inSchools and School Buses. Addressing to all heads of Institutions affiliated to CBSE,\u00a0 Dr. Biswajit Saha\u00a0additional director (ART&I) has said that the potential of Information technology as a valuable learning resource is immense. However, if children use the internet without safety awareness, they may fall prey to illegal\u00a0activity or abuse such as cyber bullying, fraud or something even more serious. HeHence, awareness of internet safety norms is absolutely indispensable to make children free to\u00a0explore knowledge without feeling intimidated. He has made stress that increasing proliferation and sophistication of\u00a0various electronic devices makes it all the more obligatory for schools to control and monitor\u00a0their use by students,<\/p>\n

\nDr Saha has reminded that schools need to promote a safe and secure educational environment for effective teaching
\nand learning and to discourage students from actions detrimental to themselves, their peers\u00a0and the value system. He has released the following measures to pre-empt\u00a0any inappropriate and illegal activity through IT enabled devices in schools and directed to scrupulously follow the directions given \u00a0:<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 Educate students for the safe and effective use of the Internet.
\n\uf0b7 Make children explicitly aware of the rule for the acceptable use of the Internet and
\ndisplay rules in this regard prominently.
\n\uf0b7 Install effective firewalls, filtering and monitoring software mechanisms in all the
\ncomputers and regularly review filtering and blocking policies and procedures. Various
\ntypes of unsolicited contents available on internet must be blocked.
\n\uf0b7 Isolate Internet access from other school Network.
\n\uf0b7 Configure end user computer devices with parental control filters \/ Antivirus of appropriate
\nstandard.
\n\uf0b7 Deploy Digital Surveillance system.
\n\uf0b7 Make Children using the Internet to work in highly-visible areas of the school.
\n\uf0b7 Supervise and monitor all online activities in the light of educational objectives.
\n\uf0b7 Allow Children to access only pre-selected websites appropriate to their age group.
\n\uf0b7 Aware the teachers and other school staffs about Internet safety norms.
\n\uf0b7 Sensitise the parents about Internet safety norms.
\n\uf0b7 Take strict disciplinary action against those who attempt to bypass filtering or to access
\ninappropriate or illegal material.
\n\uf0b7 Disable the usernames and passwords of those who leave the school promptly.
\n\uf0b7 Do not allow to create accounts for fictitious children or groups.
\n\uf0b7 Comply with all relevant legislation on copyright, property theft, fraud, discrimination and
\nobscenity on all forms of IT enabled devices.
\n\uf0b7 Avoid digital and video images of individual students\/teachers on school websites for
\nsafety of Children.
\n\uf0b7 Use only the licensed version of softwares.
