New Delhi : The National Testing Agency has announced the postponement of the JEE Main exam to be held in May 2021. This exam was scheduled to be in 4 stages. The two-stages examination was held in February and March, while the third and fourth phases were scheduled to be held in April and May. Earlier, it was decided to postpone the exam for the month of April as well.

 

This information was given by the Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on the twitter handle. Sharing the release issued by the National Testing Agency, he said that in view of the huge increase in Kovid-19 infection across the country, keeping the safety of the students in mind, the JEE Main Phase IV exam scheduled in May 2021 is tentative postponed.

 

It is worth mentioning that in the last month itself, a meeting of senior officials of the Ministry of Education and National Testing Agency and CBSCE was held with the Prime Minister of India. It was decided to cancel the examinations in the month of April itself. However, there was a spread of infection in some states only. But now that the state of Kovid-19 infection has become almost and uncontrolled in all the states of the country, the National Testing Agency and the Union Ministry of Education had no option but to cancel the examinations.

 

It is noteworthy that it was decided to take the examination of JEE Main 2021 for admission in engineering in 4 stages. Of these, the first phase examination was held from 23 to 26 in the month of February while the second phase examination was held in March from March 16 to March 18. In both these examinations, 620978 students had appeared in the first phase respectively while 556248 students had participated in the second phase.

 

After this, the third phase examination was scheduled to be held in April from 27 April to 30 April, which was already postponed.

 

For the fourth phase of examination in May, the date of May 24 to May 28 was set. The examination was to be conducted in 5 days in this month, which has also been announced to be postponed by the National Testing Agency.

 

The upcoming dates of the postponed examinations of April and May will be announced by the NTA later. The NTA has also said that the registration dates for the examination to be held in the month of May will also be announced later.

 

In a statement issued by Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Senior Director Exam of NTA, all the students were suggested to use this time properly. He has said that students can use this time for chapter wise complete practice and revision. Along with this, the students have also been asked to keep in constant touch with the official website of the NTA in view of the dates of the upcoming examination.
