Gurugram :  On the occasion of 8th International Day of Yoga, the Student Welfare Department of Gurugram University organized a poster making competition on the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ along with the Yoga practice program in the University Campus Sector 51 under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dinesh Kumar. In which the students of the University were took part enthusiastically. Pictures of various yoga asanas were made by the students and information was given about World Yoga Day. In the program organized on the occasion of International Yoga Day, teachers, staff and students of the university participated in large numbers and practiced yoga. In the poster making competition organized on the occasion of Yoga Day, Dr. S.C. Kundu, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Yogi and Dr. Neera Verma played the role of judge.


On this occasion, all the participants displayed their art and explained the importance of yoga in daily life through beautiful pictures. In the poster making competition, Kajal Phogat got first, Neha got second, and Meenakshi and Annu got third place. The students who secured first, second and third positions were honored by the Registrar of Gurugram University, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh by giving certificates with an amount of Rs.1000/-,700/- and Rs.500/- respectively.

Gurugram University on this occasion. Congratulating the winners, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Singh, the Registrar, said that Yoga is a priceless gift to the entire humanity. Yoga is a great heritage of Indian culture and rituals. In modern life, the importance of yoga has increased more than before. He said that now the interest in yoga has increased relatively fast among the youth, which can prove to be better for the coming times. During this, he also asked the students to practice yoga continuously in their life.


Let us tell you that International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June. This day is the longest day of the year. International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time on 21 June 2015.
