Captain Yadav said that it also contains dangerous elements affecting genetic properties. That is why we should swear that we should discourage it from life, while children should also be advised to avoid its use.

Dr. Ashish Yadav, the Deputy Chairman of the school, said that in order to teach the children, the teachers should also  includ this as an essential subject, because the things taught by the teachers injected in the heart and mind of the children very easily and they try to apply literally on given lessons of teachers and many children begin motivating their parents in this direction. And this is our goal that we must deliver this message to the common man. He described the role of teachers in this subject as very important.

Lion D. V. Taneja distributed bags of jute

On this occasion, Lion D. V. Taneja, Chairman of Project ‘Say No to Polythene – Save Mother Earth’ underlined the bad consequences of using polythene and plastic. He told that the chemical elements which are extracted from chlorinated plastics, together with ground water, reach our bodies. His point of view was that it was clear that in most states such as India, there is maximum dependence on ground water for drinking water and irrigation. And by this the polluted substance inside the ground reaches easily in our body. Therefore, we should make the entire society aware of its threats. In his words, health is our most important  wealth and it is necessary for our country to maintain it. If we become unhealthy  due to the dangerous components of polythene and plastic, its directly affects our productivity. This can be the prime cause of economic loss. During the workshop, Lion Taneja distributed bags made from Jute to all the guests and teachers, so that they must remember that we vowed not to use plastic bags.

The Chief speaker of the gathering, Gyan Devi Public Middle School, Sector 10 Gurgaon’s Principal  Seena Yadav, apprised everyone of the ill-effects of polythene. She said that now the time has come when we should try to explain to our society that if the earth is to be saved, then polythene will have to be completely rejected. They said that it is an universal scientific fact that plastics pollute ground water. It has a bad effect on wild animals or human life. According to her, plastic pollution can be in many ways. It can also severely affect land, waterways and oceans. She said that modern research indicates that polyethylene also has bad effects on thyroid hormones gland. Harmones get stoped or get more secretion due to the effects of chemicals. She advised all the teachers to make children aware about this.

Lion Rajesh Jisu, President of Lions Club Gurgaon City, also addressed the occasion. They said that we should not depend solely on government agencies for this kind of awareness campaign. It is their responsibility to make legal provisions, but social role is also a platform to implement it effectively. The campaign launched by Lions Club is part of the same approach. In his words, the participation of every individual is necessary in order to overthrow the tradition of using polythene. We have to ensure it collectively,

Lions Public School Manager Rajiv Kumar appealed the teachers present in the workshop to join the campaign by heart and soul. He said that the government has made laws to restrict polythene years ago but the user is not sensitive to their health. The reason is that we are not aware. He said that in the consumerist era, we have got used to getting readymade and instant everything. We are moving away from nature. It is not that we do not know the side effects of polythene, but we are not worried about our own body and future generations.

Renu Verma, the Principal of Lions Public School Sector 10A, inspired the teachers to come forward to communicate this message from the Lions Club to ‘Say No to Polythene – Save Mother Earth’ to the masses through children. She said that nature has given us bags made of many natural sources in the daily life as an alternative to plastic bags. Instead of polythene, we can use bags, made by waste cloths and on the other hand, a jute bag can also be adopted. These are such sources that quickly get to the soil and increase the yielding  strength of the soil as a compost.

Prior to this, Senior School Coordinator Anju Nasa welcomed all guests present in the workshop and said that the Central Drinking Water Ministry has advised not to use plastic bottles for all drinking water especially to all government departments and institutions. In his welcome address, she said that we should implement it.

Lastly, the school coordinator Nidhi Bhalla thanked all those present for joining the discussion on this important subject and expressing their consent for this. She wished clean India and a healthy India.
