New Delhi : National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management ( NIFTEM ) has announced to begin it’s admission process for the B Tech in food technology and management as well as  M Tech. MBA and PHD Programs for the Session 2019 -20.  NIFTEM is the Deemed to be University (De-novo Category) and an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. It is situated in Sonepat, Haryana, India.
Detail of B. Tech : Total seats -199
NIFTEM offers a full time programme leading to a B.Tech degree in Food Technology and Management. This programme includes a rare blend of technology and management courses, whereby the goal is to produce graduates who are techno-managers of tomorrow. The course has been started on the demand of industries, so that NIFTEM graduates can handle both the technical and the managerial issues in food industries. Students are admitted to this programme through IIT JEE (Main) merit list and the programme is very competitive. The students are selected by the centralized Counselling of CSAB. Â
In addition, other modes of admission may be applicable for foreign nationals and Indian nationals residing abroad, as per the norms approved by the Academic Council, in accordance with the policy laid down by the Government of India from time to time.
Students Industry Linkages :
The curriculum for B.Tech. course includes two compulsory industrial training of 4-6 weeks duration carrying 1 credit each, to be carried out in the summer vacation at the end of the fourth and sixth semester, respectively.
Any arrangement of training in industry or academia (within or outside the country) has to be routed through Training & Placement Section via the faculty in-charge of training of the respective department. A student after being selected in an organization by Training & Placement Section cannot out of his training from that organization under any circumstances.
Students Visit Abroad :
In an innovative approach to achieve excellence in academics, NIFTEM organizes one of its flagship program i.e., International Students Exchange Program by sending its meritorious undergraduate and post graduate students to different universities of world repute. Undergraduate students are exposed to best of teaching environment and research facilities in those universities. Postgraduate students, apart from this, are also exposed to most advance researches that are being undertaken in the area of food science and technology by active participation. Thus international student’s exchange program actually helps the students to broaden their horizon of knowledge.
Scholarship and Fellowship :
NIFTEM Merit Scholarship : The scholarship is given to first 3 students on merit scholarship would be paid during the period of second semester. There after toppers of first year will be awarded scholarship for next year and subsequent years accordingly only to the toppers of each year. It includes tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for ten months.
NIFTEM Merit-cum-Means Scholarship : Institute merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to B.Tech. students of the institute strictly on merit-cum- means basis for needy students having family annual income from all sources not exceeding Rs.2,50,000/-. 5% students will be considered for award of scholarship i.e. six students in B.Tech. (one each in all the five streams). It includes tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly stipend for ten months.
NIFTEM offers B.Tech. degree programme in Food Technology and Management. The duration of the course is for four years divided into two semesters per year.

The admission to M.Tech. programmes will be based on a valid GATE score (Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers) and personal interview (30 marks). Merit list will be prepared based on valid GATE score multiplied by 0.7 (70% weightage of GATE score) and will be added to marks obtained in the personal interview. The merit list will be displayed on the NIFTEM website. After the admission of eligible GATE qualified applicants, the remaining seats, if any, will be filled by non-GATE applicants (B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc.). Non-GATE candidates would require to qualify the Common Entrance Exam (70 marks) in place of GATE, canducted by NIFTEM at NIFTEM campus, Kundli followed by personal interview(30 marks). The Non-GATE applicants may note that the Common Entrance Exam shall not be conducted, if all seats have been filled by GATE candidates. Admit cards for the Common Entrance Exam may be downloaded from NIFTEM website, if the Exam is required to be held. No separate admit card will be posted. Updates can be seen on the website from time to time. Final merit will be prepared by combining the marks obtained in the Entrance Test and the Interview.

Pattern of Entrance Test :Â
 The written test conducted for Non-GATE candidates shall consist of seventy (70) objective type questions of mark each. There shall be negative marking and for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. The duration of the test will be one hour. The test shall consist of two parts. Part-A shall contain twenty (20) questions to test the Mental Agility, English and General Knowledge of the candidate. Part-B shall contain fifty (50) questions to test candidate`s knowledge base in their eligibility areas. Due to varied nature of eligibility areas, the Part-B shall consist of five sections and candidates may attempt any one of them. Broad description of each section under Part-B is given below:

SELECTION PROCEDURE (Subject to change) :
 The selection procedure to MBA Programme is based on last two years’ score of CAT/MAT and an Internal-Test for Non-CAT/MAT category applicants. The final selection of shortlisted candidates will be made on the basis of GD/PI, past academic performance, and work experience.  Â
PATTERN OF ENTRANCE TEST :

The written test of 90 minutes conducted for Non-CAT/MAT category applicants shall consist of fifty (50) objective type questions of 2 marks each. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s).

Innovative Curriculum :Â
The unique curriculum delivers a transformational experience for MBA students. There are a total of 20 mandatory courses in MBA, which spread over four semesters. ADMISSION PROCESS (PH.D.)
Eligibility Criteria:

M.Tech./M.E./Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% marks. Preference will be given to NET/GATE qualified candidates. Candidates can apply only in one department.

From a recognized Indian University Science / Engineering / Technology with a degree in MBA (two year course) by the AICTE approved PGDM from recognized institutes (two year course) but the institute is to provide ‘PGDM course’ by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to MBA have been approved.

Selection Process:

All candidates shall have to appear for Research Entrance Test (RET) to be organized by NIFTEM in its campus followed by interview for the candidates who qualify RET. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of RET (70% weightage) and interview (30% weightage). Due weightage will be given to NET/GATE qualified candidates.
The RET shall consist of seventy (70) objective type questions of one mark each. The duration of the test will be one hour. The test shall consist of two parts. Part-A shall contain twenty (20) questions to test the Mental Agility, English and General Knowledge of the candidate. Part-B shall contain fifty (50) questions to test candidate`s technical background in their eligibility areas. There shall be negative marking, and for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted and the merit would be prepared by combining the scores of RET and Interview. As mentioned earlier, due weightage will be given to NET/GATE qualified candidates for preparation of merit list.

Foreign Nationals:

For foreign nationals admission is based directly upon the merit and the applicants do not have to appear in the Entrance Test and Interview.
